In accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 249 dated March 27, 2000, the Educational and Information Center (EIC) of the SKU named after M. Auezov is the coordinating libraries scientific- methodical and information center of the education system and implements the general guidelines of the Republican Scientific and Pedagogical libraries (RNLB) under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Department’s main tasks:
• provide methodological assistance and advice in improving library and information - bibliographic work to colleagues and university libraries in the region
• development of current and long-term plans, as well as the adoption of planning and reporting documents of structural units.
• participation in the preparation of normative and other documentation regulating library activities
• identification, research, promotion and implementation of  library experience;
• organization of events for EIC’s and universities employees to improve their  skills: conferences, seminars, round tables, courses
• development of proposals for improving the activities of the EIC and participation in structural units, control
• organization of the EIC methodical council and implementation of council decisions
Department’s main services:
• identify, research and analyze the information needs of users;
• collection, research, analysis of domestic and foreign experience of librarianship;
• improve student’s education level; participate in university’s mass activities aimed at preservation of cultural heritage using documents created by the EIC fond;
• work experience of students and graduate students "Librarianship" specialty on the EIC basis.
